Al-Burhan reveals a satisfactory settlement to settle a political dispute in Sudan

Following the announcement by the head of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, that a settlement is approaching to resolve the political crisis by mutual consent among all parties, signs of a breakthrough in the political crisis in Sudan are looming on the horizon.

Speaking to a crowd in the Kedbas area of River Nile State, northern Sudan, Al-Burhan expressed hope that the political arena will see a breakthrough in the coming days, noting that everyone has begun to recognize the dangers that surround Sudan.

Al-Burhan reaffirmed the army’s commitment to refrain from political action to allow political forces to form a fully civilian government. “We have no desire to be in power; we are working in our security and defense affairs, and we are determined to do so, and we are moving forward,” he added.

Al-Burhan confirmed his knowledge of all the details of Sheikh Muhammad Haj Hamad Al-initiative, Jaali’s which calls for the unification of the people of Sudan, declaring his welcome to the initiative and all initiatives that call for a solution to the country’s crisis.

He went on to say that every conciliation call coming from the “Al-Masid” (the sheikh’s headquarters) is genuine and sincere, with “no bias towards one side or a faction,” and that “the country is going through a stage that requires unity and standing together.”

The Sheikh of the Kedbas region had presented an initiative to unite the “revolutionary forces,” to which the “Freedom and Change” alliance and several union entities responded, to broaden the mass base and put an end to the procedures that led to the army taking power on October 25, 2021.

The “tripartite mechanism” includes the head of the UN mission, Volker Peretz, the African Union representative, Mohamed Belish, and the “IGAD” representative, Mahmoud Younis.

Following the meeting with Hemedti, spokesman for the “tripartite mechanism,” Mohamed Belaiche, stated in a press statement that a satisfactory political settlement would be reached for all parties to the political process.
