Al-Budaiwi Meets Swedish FM to Discuss Developments in Gaza

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Tobias Billström. This meeting occured on the sidelines of the 60th Munich Security Conference in the Federal Republic of Germany.

 

Al-Budaiwi Addressing Regional and International Issues

The meeting provided an opportunity for the exchange of views on various regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Al-Budaiwi and Billström discussed the ongoing events in the Gaza Strip and the continuation of Israeli violations in the region.

Additionally, both sides emphasized the serious repercussions of these developments on regional stability and the broader international community.

Furthermore, both discussed their intentions to promote peace, stability, and security in the region, and address shared challenges effectively.

Calling to Transform Agreements into Actions

Furthermore, the meeting provided an opportunity to review the results of the 27th joint Gulf and European ministerial meeting held in Muscat in 2023. Emphasis was on translating agreements into actions to promote cooperation and achieve objectives.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration, aiming to overcome obstacles hindering implementation. In addition, they aim to ensure the successful realization of the agreements and the attainment of their intended outcomes.

Al-Budaiwi Condemns Israel’s Aggression against Gaza

Al-Budaiwi previously declared his strong rejection of the ongoing hostile conduct that flagrantly broke humanitarian and international norms by targeting defenseless civilians.

He called for the protection of civilians and an immediate cessation of hostilities. He reaffirmed the GCC‘s steadfast commitment to backing global initiatives for justice and peace.
