Al-Baha Prepares for Winter Tourism

The Al-Baha is preparing to receive visitors from inside and outside the courtyard as winter approaches.

The region is known for its warm weather, reinforced by recent rains that have greened the land and filled valleys.

Connecting Roads, Tourist Attractions

Al Baha is linked to Tihami via a network including the 45 km King Fahd Road to Makhwah with 25 tunnels.

Other key roads are King Khalid’s steep Al Mandq-Qalwah road, and connections between Al Hajrah, Beljurashi, and Makhwah.

Tihami features tourist and heritage sites, such as Dhi Ain village with 58 historic houses, perennial springs, banana, qat farms, and the historic Al Khalaf and Al Khalif villages in Qalwah.

There are also the Shada Mountains, known for their ancient caves and rock formations, and coffee plantations.

Parks, Gardens,  Markets

The Tihami governorates of Makhwah, Qalwah, Al Hajrah, and Ghamid Al Zinad host numerous parks, public gardens, and old markets, such as the historic Makhwah market with various products and displays.

The area is also famous for its traditional restaurants offering popular local cuisine.

Al Baha Municipality’s Winter Festival Preparations

With the first school semester break approaching, the Al Baha Municipality and related Tihami sector municipalities are preparing for the winter festival, gearing up various tourist sites for visitors.

Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Suwat’s Statement

Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Suwat, Secretary of the Al Baha region, stated that preparations notably involve preparing public gardens, parks, and green spaces.

Additionally, there is an emphasis on increasing health inspections in eateries and health-related shops.

Furthermore, the plan includes overseeing markets and specific areas.

In parallel, there will be the organization of morning and evening teams dedicated to monitoring and upkeep.

Lastly, a significant focus will be on improving cleanliness in markets and parks, aiming to enhance the comfort and service for citizens and residents.”

Infrastructure, Service Enhancements

Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Suwat, Secretary of the Al Baha region, confirmed the region’s preparations.

These include enhancing public gardens, parks, and health inspections, and ensuring cleanliness in markets.

There are  70 parks and playgrounds, 30 playing fields, and 30 screens .

More than 5,000 locations have decorative lighting, in addition to 50 billboards. Maintenance includes 125,900 agricultural works, 49,600 plantings, 446 cleaning workers, 852 inspection tours, and 94 cleaning machines.

Road maintenance covers 21,500 km, with 18,482 streetlight poles, 60 toilets, and 8,700 environmental sanitation sprays.

Infrastructure, Service Enhancements

Dr. Al-Suwat highlighted over 3,000 inspection tours, beautification of 12 entrances, planning of 30 events and fireworks, 6 emergency response teams, and encouraged reporting issues through the Baladi website or the emergency number (940) for visitor.
