As anticipation builds for the AFC Champions League Elite Final set for Saturday, May 3 in Jeddah, the official tournament trophy made a special tour across NEOM, offering a unique glimpse into the region’s ambitious vision and vibrant communities.
In its role as Presenting Partner for this year’s quarterfinals and final, NEOM showcased the trophy throughout its expansive 26,500-square-kilometer landscape. The journey included stops at key destinations such as the snow-dusted mountains of Trojena, the shores of the Adventure Sports Hub, and the untouched beauty of the NEOM Nature Region.

According to a press release from NEOM, the tour was designed to spotlight the region’s growing influence in fostering community, promoting healthy lifestyles, and driving economic development. Accompanied by NEOM Sports Club ambassador Mohammed Al Burayk, the trophy tour also highlighted the diverse sports shaping NEOM’s future—from football and skiing to kitesurfing and beyond.
“Hosting the AFC Champions League Elite trophy at NEOM is about much more than the game itself,” said Jan Paterson, Managing Director of NEOM Sport. “It represents a powerful connection between our people and one of Asia’s premier sporting events, and reflects the central role sport plays in NEOM’s identity.”
The partnership with the AFC has also contributed to youth development initiatives such as the Shuhub Community Youth Football Program, which has reached over 10,000 young people across Saudi Arabia. As part of this collaboration, NEOM has provided boys and girls from local football communities with the chance to participate in AFC matches—serving as player mascots, center circle children, and even partaking in the historic first-ever trophy handover at the AFC Champions League 2023/24 Final.
