Saudi Arabia Launches ‘SHIFT’ Medical Innovation Center in Riyadh

Saudi Arabia has launched the “SHIFT” innovation center to further boost the Kingdom’s capacity for pioneering innovative solutions and addressing local health challenges and market needs in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Ministry of Health and Siemens Healthineers jointly launched the center, marking the achievement of one of the first agreements of the 8th Global Health Forum.

The inauguration ceremony has witnessed the presence of Deputy Health Minister Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Rumaih and Siemens Healthineers Board Member Elisabeth Staudinger and other senior officials from both sides.

The center seeks to lead innovation and scientific research, sign strategic partnerships between health institutions, research bodies, startups, and innovators, and enhance local talent and capabilities.

Therefore, the SHIFT innovation center will accelerate knowledge transfer by blending global expertise with local insight and develop scalable and innovative healthcare solutions.

By launching the center, Saudi Arabia has reinforced its position as a pioneering health innovation hub for the Middle East and Africa.

Notably, the center houses Siemens Healthineers’ Digi X-Lab, which enables researchers and physicians to harness data and artificial intelligence technologies. This means that medical data can be transformed into scientific insights that accelerate clinical research and stimulate innovation.

Saudi Arabia has set the healthcare sector at the forefront of its Vision 2030 goals, unfolding a new chapter of advanced and accessible medical care that fosters the well-being of Saudi citizens.
