Saudi Culture Ministry, Korea Heritage Service Expand Heritage Cooperation

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture has signed an executive program of cultural cooperation with the Korea Heritage Service (KHS) to further bolster the Saudi-Korean relations.

The program seeks to foster cultural relations between both countries and carry out the provisions of the memorandum of understanding signed in Seoul in 2019.

Held at the National Palace Museum of Korea in Seoul, the signing ceremony witnessed the attendance of Deputy Minister for Research and Cultural Heritage Dr. Maha Al-Senan and KHS Director General for Intangible Heritage Yoon Soon-ho.

Crucially, the program focuses on four key areas of cooperation including the enhancement of capacity in digital archiving through specialized training programs for the digitization of cultural records. Moreover, it includes the collaboration on joint cultural conferences, particularly those centered on intangible cultural heritage.

Both parties will also cooperate in advancing cultural research by supporting joint projects on topics of shared interest.

This initiative further boosts cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Korea and highlights both nations’ dedication to sharing pioneering expertise and fostering strategic partnerships in heritage and documentation. It also mirrors the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to advancing international cultural exchange and achieve the National Culture Strategy in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
