Saudi Foreign Minister Participates in GCC-US Ministerial Meeting

The Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Farhan, joined on Wednesday the joint ministerial meeting of the strategic partnership between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the US.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the meeting took place in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

The GCC-US Joint Ministerial Meeting explored ways to strengthen partnership and cooperation between the GCC countries and the US.

Moreover, the GCC-US Joint Ministerial Meeting discussed bilateral and regional issues of common concern, most notably the current developments in Gaza and Lebanon.

Several senior diplomats attended the meeting, including the Saudi Ambassador to the US, Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz; the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Public Diplomacy, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi; and the Director of the Gulf Cooperation Council Affairs Department Anas Al-Wasedy.

Also on Wednesday, the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, held a bilateral meeting with his Lebanese counterpart, Abdallah Bou Habib, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

In their talks, both officials discussed the current developments in Lebanon, the dangers of violence escalation on the security and stability of Lebanon and the region, and the urgency of preserving Lebanon’s security and respecting its sovereignty in accordance with international law.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia expressed its deep concern over the ongoing security developments in Lebanon, warning of the risks of violence escalation. It also urged all parties to exercise maximum restraint and distance the region and its people from the dangers of war.
