Spain Beats England to Make History in Euro 2024 Final

Spain beat England 2-1 to win the 2024 edition of the UEFA European Championship at Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

The first half of the match was goalless.

However, the Spanish Nico Williams scored early in the second half after some brilliant work by Lamine Yamal.

At the 87th minute, Mikel Oyarzabal scored the second goal achieving a 2-1 victory over England.

This defeat means that England’s 58-year wait for major men’s trophy goes on.

Oyarzabal slid in to turn in Marc Cucurella’s cross as the match was about to have extra time after England’s resilience at the tournament.

Substitute Cole Palmer equalized for England in the 73rd minute and cancelled out England’s lead through Neco Williams in the 47th minute.

It is noteworthy that Spain won the title in 1964, 2008 and 2012.

Furthermore, the Spanish national team succeeded in reaching the final of the European Nations Cup for the fifth time in its history, after 1964, 1984, 2008 and 2012, after defeating its French counterpart in the semi-final of the current edition with a score of 2-1.

England men’s team have lost two successive European Championship finals which leaves them without a major trophy since winning the World Cup in 1966.
