Literature Commission Honors “Manga Industry Program 2” Graduates

 

Today, the Literature, Publishing, & Translation Commission honored “Manga Industry Program 2” graduates at the Kadokawa Academy in Tokyo.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, Dr. Mohammed Hasan Alwan attended the event.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of Manga Production Company, Dr. Essam Amanullah Bukhari was among the attendees.

It is worth mentioning that this program is organized in collaboration with Manga Production Company, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “Misk”

Primary Stages of “Manga Program 2”

The  Program  includes five main stages:

  1. Virtual Workshops: These provided an overview of the stages in the comic book industry.
  2. Intensive Training Program Stage: a thorough six-week training course that explores the nuances of character sketching and manga design.
  3. Sending trainees to Japan to join the globally renowned Kadokawa Academy in the Manga industry:
  4. Launching the “Mangnaha” competition that aims to adapt Arabic proverbs from popular Saudi culture rendered in a manga style.
  5. Initiating the “Manga Al-Qaseed” competition to transform Arabic poems into manga.

 

Participants in Manga Program 

More than 1,700 participated in the virtual workshops as trainees. 75 of them met the requirements for the intense training program and produced 14 comic tales.

It is worth mentioning that fourteen trainees were dispatched to Japan to refine their talents under the guidance of experts in the field.

The “Mangnaha” competition received 130 submissions, and the “Manga Al-Qaseed” competition had over 70 participants.

Aim of “Manga Industry Program 2”

The Commission in collaboration with Manga Production Company aims to:

  • Train talented manga artists through a professional training program using Japanese techniques.
  • Establish the foundations of the manga industry.
  • Cultivate a generation interested in the manga industry
  • Support the creative content environment in the Kingdom.
