The General Authority for Military Industries, with government and private sector partners, intensifies preparations for the World Defense Expo 2024. The event will be from February 4 to 8, 2024, north of Riyadh. It will feature key decision-makers in global defense and security, showcasing the latest future technologies in military industries.
Second Edition: Sponsorship, Objectives
The second edition, sponsored by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is overseen by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. The expo reflects leadership’s commitment to leading globally in military industries. It aims to contribute to the national economy, as stated by the Authority.
Expo Scale and Participation
The second edition aims to become one of the world’s leading defense and security expos. It will host over 750 exhibitors, with participation from more than 75 countries. The event expects over 500 official delegations and 100,000 visits, spanning a 47,000 square meter exhibition area.
Goals of Expo
The expo aims to position Saudi Arabia as a global defense and security leader. It focuses on local defense manufacturing and technology exchange. The expo will highlight the latest in military technologies and showcase the future of defense across land, sea, air, space, and cyber security.
New Initiatives in 2024
The 2024 edition introduces new ideas and programs, including the “Future of Defense Platform.” This platform will explore technology’s role and potential in current and future technologies. It features a research and development platform, an innovation platform, and a main exhibition hall.
Space Defense Platform
The expo’s “Space Defense Platform” highlights the importance of space in security and defense. Major international space companies, totaling 12 establishments, will participate, showcasing advancements in military technologies and systems.
Creating Ideal Environment
The expo aims to foster an ideal environment for networking, innovation, and technology transfer. It seeks to achieve sector goals, including localizing over 50% of government military equipment and service expenditure by 2030.
Enhancing Saudi Arabia’s Global Position
The expo focuses on enhancing Saudi Arabia’s role as a global leader in defense and military industries. It emphasizes local defense manufacturing, technology exchange, and showcasing cutting-edge military technologies.
Future of Defense Forum
A five-day “Future of Defense Forum” will be held, covering various topics including defense leadership, future defense technologies in maritime, cyber security, and space. The forum will also announce winners of the Military Industries Innovation Award and the Future Talent Program. The “Women in Defense Program” will showcase female leaders’ contributions to the defense and security sector globally.
