Farasan Islands to Host Third Annual Poetry Symposium
The Farasan Islands will host the “Third Annual Poetry Symposium” this Friday, reported Saudi Press Agency. The Professional Literature Association will organize the symposium in the water park at Alghadeer Beach.
Wide Participation
This edition of the symposium will witness wide Arab participation. 12 Gulf and Arab countries will join the Kingdom.
Furthermore, a number of critics, academics, and honorary guests will take part in the event as well.
Importance of Poetry Symposium
The symposium represents a literary and cultural forum on the level of the Arab world. It aims to bridge communication between poets from the Kingdom and the Arab world who contribute to the literary and creative field.
Moreover, it emphasizes the importance of cultural tourism. It also involves organizing poetry evenings and literary meetings on one of the enchanting island’s beaches, away from enclosed and monotonous spaces.
The CEO of the Professional Literature Association Abdullah Ibrahim Muftah explained that the symposium is part of the association’s numerous and ambitious projects, all aligning with Saudi Vision 2030.
The association’s efforts extend across various regions, cities, and provinces of the Kingdom through its ambassadors program.
The symposium is also part of the association’s plans that commenced on September 8, 2023, under the supervision and guidance of the Minister of Culture, Badr bin Abdullah.
He stated that 30 of the most prominent poets from the Arab world will grace the event with their poems, echoing the cooing of seagulls and whispers of the waves.
Tourist Program
The symposium will include six poetry evenings, with two evenings each day. Following these evenings, an accompanying program will take place. The program will offer a sea trip, visits to prominent tourist and historical sites, experiencing the cultural heritage of the Farasan Islands, art exhibitions, and other activities.
