Jeddah Book Fair 2023 Concludes at Superdome in Jeddah
The Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority concluded the Jeddah Book Fair 2023 at the Superdome in Jeddah, reported Saudi Press Agency. The event, under the theme “Ports of Culture” saw participation from over 1000 local, Arab, and international publishing houses across 400 booths.
Leadership Gratitude and Strategic Initiatives
Mohammed Hassan Alwan, CEO of the Authority, expressed gratitude for the wise leadership’s unwavering support to the cultural sector. He also highlighted the fair as part of the “Book Fairs” initiative, ending this year’s series and setting the stage for the Eastern Book Fair in 2024.
A 10-Day Journey of Knowledge
The fair presented a comprehensive 10-day cultural program. The program included over 80 events like cultural symposiums, dialogue sessions, poetry nights with renowned poets, enriching workshops in publishing and comics (comics and manga), theatrical performances, and much more.
Empowering Saudi Authors
The Authority also provided a platform for independent Saudi authors at the Saudi Author’s Corner. Over 100 self-published titles were showcased for visitor purchase, supporting local authors’ literary and intellectual output.
Children’s Pavilion: A Hub of Activity
Moreover, the Children’s Pavilion attracted wide attention, offering a blend of learning and enjoyment. Activities included theater workshops, puppetry, costume, cooking, music, along with comic-making and stop-motion animation workshops.
“Year of Arabic Poetry 2023” Initiative
Finally, the fair featured a series of poetry evenings, marking the presence of the “Year of Arabic Poetry 2023” initiative.
