Bahrain Adds Momentum to Riyadh’s Global Expo
Bahrain’s signing of its Participation Contract represents another remarkable milestone in Saudi Arabia’s preparations, bringing the Kingdom closer to hosting a global gathering built around international exchange, collaboration, and a shared view of the future.
Signed in Manama by Expo 2030 Riyadh Chief Executive Officer Talal Al-Marri and Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities President Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the agreement turns Bahrain’s participation into a more concrete phase while adding further momentum to the Kingdom’s growing international preparations for the Expo.
What Will Bahrain Bring to Expo 2030 Riyadh?
By signing this agreement, Bahrain now has a clear framework to turn its Expo commitment into a distinctive presence in Riyadh. It further sets the stage for work across the key elements of its six-month participation, from designing its pavilion and preparing its programs to offering seamless experiences for visitors.
More broadly, Bahrain’s participation also reflects the deep ties between the Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
Commenting on the agreement, Sheikh Khalifa described the country’s presence at Expo 2030 Riyadh as an expression of the longstanding fraternal and historic relationship between the two nations, as well as their expanding cooperation across several fields.
For Sheikh Khalifa, the participation would be an exclusive opportunity to showcase Bahrain’s identity, achievements, and future aspirations, while solidifying its international presence. He also labeled the Expo as a vital platform for cultural and knowledge exchange, partnership-building, and deeper mutual understanding.
Turning Participation Into Presence
Remarkably, Al-Marri positioned Bahrain’s signing within the accelerating preparations for Expo 2030 Riyadh, underscoring that participating countries are not simply confirming their presence but they are shaping what they will bring to the Kingdom.
As Participation Contracts translate commitments into pavilions, programs, and visitor experiences, he noted that Bahrain’s contribution would significantly add to the diversity and depth of the Expo.
Why Is the World Turning Toward Riyadh?
The growing participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh stands as a testament to the increasing international momentum around Saudi Arabia’s ambitious vision for the global event.
Reflecting this momentum, more than 145 countries have confirmed their participation, with formal agreements now taking shape.
France, for instance, signed its Participation Contract in Paris last month, on the sidelines of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to France.
More boldly, the recent SEE Agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) has established the legal and administrative foundations governing international participation.
Riyadh Prepares to Welcome the World
Construction and infrastructure works are progressing across the Expo site, supported by operational planning and the development of outstanding experiences that will set the event apart.
Riyadh is set to host Expo 2030 from October 1, 2030, to March 31, 2031, under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow.”
The six-month gathering is poised to bring together more than 200 official participants and draw 42 million visitors, featuring national pavilions, cultural programming, innovation, and immersive experiences in a global setting for collaboration and exchange.
