Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan held significant talks with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi in Riyadh on Wednesday, according to Al Arabiya English.
Discussions revolved around areas of mutual cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the IAEA, with a special focus on advancing nuclear non-proliferation and boosting nuclear safety and security frameworks.
In a post on X, Grossi described the meeting as an important opportunity for a timely exchange of views on “the situation in Iran and other important non-proliferation issues where diplomacy remains essential.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Grossi also held talks with Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.
Writing on X, Grossi underscored the importance of his visit to the Kingdom as Saudi Arabia “moves forward with its civilian nuclear program.”
He further noted that his talks with Prince Abdulaziz focused on “growing cooperation” between the IAEA and Saudi Arabia, welcoming the Kingdom’s “commitment to transparency.”
“The IAEA will continue to work closely with Saudi Arabia to ensure that this process advances in a safe, secure, and peaceful manner,” Grossi added.
