Saudi Biology Team Secures 6 Medals at 2026 International Olympiad in Russia

Saudi Arabia secured six international medals at the 2026 Open International Biology Olympiad (OIBO), held in Sochi, Russia, from May 15 to 22, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The Saudi national biology team has competed against nearly 100 top-performing students from 17 countries.

This outstanding success further elevates the Kingdom’s standing in the competition’s history, raising its overall record to eight silver and four bronze medals in this prestigious international Olympiad.

The Kingdom’s participation was led by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Giftedness and Creativity Foundation (Mawhiba), in strategic cooperation with the Ministry of Education.

Supported by pioneering industry professionals, the Open International Biology Olympiad (OIBO) seeks to cultivate students’ engagement with contemporary challenges in biology and biotechnology, while also supporting the exchange of knowledge and experience among participants and boosting international scientific cooperation.
