The Kremlin announced on Thursday that Russia stands ready to contribute to a resolution regarding the ongoing conflict in the Middle East involving Iran. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that President Vladimir Putin maintains active communication with various regional leaders to monitor the escalating situation.
Russia intends to play a constructive role if the involved parties require assistance in de-escalating the current military tensions. During a press briefing, Peskov emphasized the Russian government’s willingness to facilitate a transition toward a more stable and peaceful regional environment.
“The president is continuing these contacts, and if our services are somehow required, we are, of course, ready to make our contribution to ensuring that the military situation transitions to a peaceful course as soon as possible,” Peskov told reporters.
Moscow Responds to Trump
These remarks followed United States President Donald Trump’s recent address to the nation concerning the potential for war with Iran. Journalists also questioned Peskov about Trump’s separate comments regarding a possible American withdrawal from the NATO alliance.
Furthermore, the spokesman clarified Russia’s long-standing diplomatic position regarding Western military structures during the briefing. Peskov noted that Russia continues to view NATO as a hostile alliance that complicates international security efforts.
Consequently, Moscow is positioning itself as a potential mediator to prevent further armed conflict between Washington and Tehran. While the situation remains volatile, the Kremlin suggests that diplomatic intervention provides the most viable path forward for all nations involved.
