6.0 Quake Hits Indonesia’s Sulawesi, No Tsunami Threat

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit Indonesia’s Sulawesi region on Saturday, according to Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency.
The agency emphasized that there was no potential for a tsunami, Reuters reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties in the wake of the earthquake.
The European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) measured the earthquake at a magnitude of 5.9, with a depth of 109 km (68 miles).
Due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, Sulawesi region frequently experiences natural disasters.
Currently, Indonesian authorities are monitoring the situation, but initial reports mention that the earthquake did not cause significant disruptions.

However, the authorities advised residents of Sulawesi and surrounding areas to be alert and abide by official updates.
