35 male and female students in the Saudi Science and Engineering Team represent the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as they compete for first places in “ISEF 2024”, one of the largest international scientific competitions, held in Los Angeles, America. More than 70 countries are taking part in the event.
Dr. Basil Al-Sadhan, Deputy Secretary General of Mawhiba for Gifted Services, stated to the Saudi Press Agency that the final training phase, lasting 3 days, will commence in a training camp. Over 10 scientific supervisors will participate, along with volunteer students from previous editions.
Al-Sadhan stated that the current edition is witnessing high competition from 1,700 male and female students representing 70 countries around the world. He also expressed his optimism with participation and distinguished results in various scientific fields.
On her part, Director of the Giftedness Department at the Ministry of Education, Dr. Jawaher Hamad Al-Yousef, said that the Kingdom’s participation in “ISEF” this year, represented by the Ministry of Education and the King Abdulaziz Center for Giftedness and its men, “Mawhiba,” comes out of belief of the importance of supporting the innovation system and creating globally competitive citizens.
She added: This year, over 210,000 students participated in Creativity 2024. Their projects went through judging stages in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, resulting in 180 projects in the competition. From these, 45 students qualified for the final exhibition. Additionally, 35 talented students were selected to represent the Kingdom in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
Dr. Jawaher expressed her confidence in the students’ participation befitting the Kingdom and the support and interest provided by the wise government.
