Winners of ‘Smarter Climate Farmers Challenge’ Announced by Saudi Min.
In a bid to foster innovation in climate-smart agriculture, the Ministry of Economy and Planning of Saudi Arabia recently announced the winners of the ‘Smarter Climate Farmers Challenge’ at the InFlavour Expo. This challenge is part of a broader initiative aimed at optimizing the global food ecosystem by supporting entrepreneurs and startups that propose viable solutions to enhance food production, improve living standards, and address climate change while ensuring efficient resource management.
‘Smarter Climate Farmers Challenge’ is underpinned by a coalition of notable partners. Spearheaded by the Saudi Ministry of Economy and Planning, the challenge received backing from a myriad of organizations including Barka Fund, Cacao Capital, Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution KSA, Efeca, Federation of Saudi Chambers KSA, INOKS Capital, Kilimo, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, KSA, NEOM, Nestlé, Roots Ventures, and the United Nations, demonstrating a collaborative effort to drive agricultural innovations that are climate-resilient.
Furthermore, the announcement of the winners is a pivotal milestone following the launch of the ‘Smarter Climate Farmers Challenge’ during the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2023, organized in collaboration with the World Economic Forum.
This challenge, alongside the Food Ecosystems in Arid Climates Challenge, reflects Saudi Arabia’s active engagement in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and fostering a global community of innovators dedicated to mitigating the impacts of climate change.
The Saudi ministry’s initiative underscores the pivotal role of innovative, collaborative efforts in addressing the global food security challenges exacerbated by climate change.
