What You Should Know About The Saudi Green Initiative Forum in Cop 27

 

The Saudi Green Initiative Forum – which will be held on the 11th and 12th of this month, on the sidelines of the COP27 conference in Sharm El-Sheikh – will discuss the progress made during the past year.

The forum focuses on the Kingdom’s green transition journey and its multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach to reducing carbon emissions, renewable energy sources, and clean hydropower. It also discusses the Kingdom’s pioneering efforts in developing a circular carbon economy, afforestation, and protecting the natural environment in the Kingdom.

 

The forum monitors the efforts of all segments of society to achieve a sustainable future for all. This includes international cooperation in the field of climate action and the development of the green finance sector.

 

The Green Saudi Initiative 2022 Forum will define the Kingdom’s plans to achieve the goal of planting 450 million trees sustainably by 2030. This will preserve the Kingdom’s unique biodiversity.

 

 

The “Green Saudi Initiative” exhibition accompanying the forum extends over a wide area, showing the scope and pace of the climate movement in the Kingdom, as it opens its doors on the 7th of this month and continues until the 18th of the same month.

 

 

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to explore the diversity and importance of the initiatives currently underway.

 

This includes the world’s largest clean hydrogen plant in NEOM and successful programs to resettle the most prominent endangered species.
