Wadi Qanuna: One of Most Beautiful Valleys in KSA

Wadi Qanuna is considered one of the most beautiful valleys in the Kingdom. Its waters flow throughout the year, while farms and perennial trees extend along its sides. Thus, it a destination for large numbers of visitors who seek the beauty of nature and warmth, especially in the winter.

The valley is located in Al Ardiyat Governorate in Makkah , in the Tihamah sector in the southwestern region of the Kingdom. Its is about 108 kilometers long.

Wadi Qanuna’s Breathtaking Beauty

 

It is distinguished by its abundant, clear running water, the breathtaking beauty of its streams, and the greenery that covers the sides of the valley. In addition, it has unique rock formations and archaeological engravings, with Habesha market on its bank.

The valley’s tributaries start from the heights of the Hijaz Mountains, and from Jabal al-Bils in Yanbu’, to the Bani al-Muntashir country, then the Bani Lake Balqarn, then the Bani Issa country, and its flow heads downhill towards the west towards the Qunfudhah Governorate as one of the largest valleys in the Tihama region.

It is characterized by its abundant and sweet waters, and the presence of various farms on its banks, with their diverse crops of millet, wheat, sesame, and palm trees.

Wadi Qanuna Dam

 

The Wadi Qanuna Dam is one of the largest dams in the Kingdom. Its storage capacity is 79.2 million cubic metres. Its is 326 meters long and 70 metres high.

It also includes a water purification station with a production capacity of 18 thousand cubic meters per day. The treated water goes to the beneficiary areas.
