US exempt Saudis over 50 from the visa renewal interview

The US Embassy in Riyadh announced (Monday), that Saudi citizens will be exempted from the personal interview when applying for visa renewal, for those aged 50 years and above.

The embassy indicated on its website that applicants who meet the criteria may be eligible to renew the visa by mail, which takes about two weeks, indicating that the Saudi applicant is required to be currently in his country, and has never been arrested or convicted of a crime, or deported from the US, or denied entry, and meticulously complete the online application form (DS-160).

It added that the (B1-B2) visa to be renewed should not expire more than 12 months, noting that the eligibility to apply for a visa without an interview will be assessed, after applying electronically.

In turn, Consul General Michael Garcia said that the interview exemption program for qualified Saudi citizens will provide more opportunities for everyone to obtain a visa without having to come to the embassy or consulate.
