Unemployment rate among Saudis continues to decline at 2019 3rd quarter

The Saudi General Authority for Statistics announced on Sunday, the labor market bulletin in the Kingdom at the end of the third quarter of 2019.

It indicated that unemployment rate among Saudi citizens (male and female) aged 15 years and over fell to 12 percent at the end of 2019 third quarter, compared to 12.3 percent in the previous quarter of the same year.

On the level of the total population of the Kingdom, both expatriates and citizens, the unemployment rate decreased from 5.6 percent in the second quarter of this year to 5.5 percent at the end of the third quarter of the year.

The Saudi General Authority for Statistics issues the Labor Market Bulletin according to the estimates of the workforce survey it conducts on a quarterly basis, the survey’s data depends on the administrative records of the relevant authorities such as (the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Ministry of Civil Service, the General Organization for Social Insurance, the Human Resources Development Fund and Center of National information).

The results of the bulletin indicated that the total number of Saudi workers (male and female) recorded an increase to 3.1 million employees in the third quarter of 2019, compared to 3.09 million workers in the second quarter of the year.

While, the total number of Saudis looking for work based on administrative records in the Kingdom during the third quarter of 2019 amounted to 1.03 million citizens, compared to a million citizens who were looking for work in the second quarter of the year.
