Tourism mogul Jerry Inzerillo receives WANGO award

American tourism mogul Jerry Inzerillo received the Tourism for Peace Award from the World Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (WANGO), recognising his unique contributions to global peace through his work and achievements in tourism and hospitality.

An essential role in South African

Inzerillo had an essential role in ending racial discrimination in the South African region of Sun City during his tenure as CEO of the Kerzner Hotels and Resorts Group. Back then, the country lived the apartheid era.

In light of the pivotal role he played in the southern African region at the time for peace and equality, Inzerillo became a close friend of Mandela, the former President of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize winner for that reason.

Inzerillo and Diriyah

Inzerillo is currently the CEO of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. He is working on making Diriyah “the jewel of the kingdom”, an oasis of world peace, and one of the most important places for humanitarian gathering in the world.

Work is in full swing to implement one of the most essential and extensive heritage and cultural projects that the land of kings and heroes embraces.

Diriyah is a springboard for peace and unity for its people, which already qualifies it to serve as a major tourist destination of unprecedented cultural, political, and religious transformations in Saudi Arabia.

WANGO award to Inzerillo

On the occasion of the award announcement, the President of WANGO, Tajeddin Hamad, said that Jerry Inzerillo is a leading figure who sees the power of hospitality in promoting peace and understanding between people and changing the world for the better. For his part, Inzerillo expressed his happiness with the award:

“This is unbelievable. I did not imagine when I started working at the age of thirteen years old in Brooklyn in New York City that such interaction and dealing with guests could lead one day days into real social change.”

WANGO aims to strengthen the role of NGOs to deepen communication and actively contribute to providing solutions to major humanitarian problems worldwide.

It is worth noting that the organisation has awarded several international personalities who have contributed to global peace and prosperity.
