Tour Guides Gather in Jeddah for International Tourist Guide Day

Tour guides from across the Kingdom convened in Jeddah to celebrate International Tourist Guide Day, in an event organized by the Tour Guides Cooperative Society. A total of 281 male and female guides took part in the program, which highlighted the historic Hajj route and Jeddah’s prominent heritage landmarks.

First launched in 1990 by the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, International Tourist Guide Day underscores the vital role guides play as ambassadors of their countries and cultures. The occasion also aims to emphasize the importance of tour guiding in enhancing visitor experiences, promoting sustainable tourism development, and recognizing the contributions of guides in preserving and presenting national identity and human heritage.

The celebration comes amid the Kingdom’s rapidly growing tourism sector, aligned with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Finally, tourist guides serve as essential storytellers of the nation’s historical, cultural, and natural treasures, sharing knowledge and professionalism that reflect the richness and diversity of Saudi civilization.
