Taif University Holds Top 500 Global Spot for Third Year

Taif University (TU) secured a spot among the top 500 universities globally in the 2024 Shanghai Academic Ranking. This achievement marks the third consecutive year that the university has maintained its place, underscoring its dedication to high-quality research aligned with international standards.

Since becoming an independent institution in 2004, TU has rapidly risen to global prominence. Its consistent presence among the top 500 universities for three years reflects this progress. The university credits this success to the unwavering efforts of its administration and staff, marking a significant step towards achieving academic and scientific leadership.

Several key factors have driven TU’s success, including a strategic emphasis on scientific research and collaboration with global academic institutions. These initiatives have enhanced scientific output and increased publication in prestigious international journals, backed by the support of Saudi Arabia’s leadership.

Future Aspirations

Dr. Walaa bin Fahd Al-Sanea, TU’s Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, highlighted to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) the collective effort behind the ranking. He expressed confidence in the university’s potential to further strengthen its position as a leading educational institution.

Saudi Universities on the Global Stage

King Saud University (KSU) also impressed with a jump to the 90th position in the Shanghai Ranking. This improvement reflects KSU’s growing global prominence.

Saudi Arabia boasts multiple universities in the world’s top tiers. King Abdulaziz University and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology rank between 201 and 300. Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University follows in the 301-400 range. Alongside TU, King Khalid University is in the 401-500 bracket. Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz University places between 601 and 700. King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Qassim University, and Umm al-Qura University rank in the 701-800 range. King Faisal University sits in the 801-900 bracket, while Jazan University is in the 901-1000 range.
