Saudi Arabia and Morocco signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the health sector, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
During an official visit to Morocco, the Saudi Minister of Health, Fahad Al-Jalajel, met with his Moroccan counterpart, Khalid Ait Taleb. The Saudi Ambassador to Morocco, Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Alsaleh, and an official delegation from the ministry attended the meeting.
Both sides explored aspects of joint cooperation in the health sector, aiming to enhance the level of bilateral coordination in accordance with the wider Arab action to promote global health.
After the meeting, the two ministers signed an MoU to foster health partnership between both countries, in line with the goals of health transformation to improve the quality of health services and enhance prevention against health risks.
Furthermore, the MoU aims to support and develop health services and to exchange expertise. It covers various medical fields, including therapeutic and preventive medicine, digital health, and pandemic management.
On this occasion, the Saudi Health Minister said that his visit stresses “the historical relations between Saudi Arabia and Morocco within the framework of joint Arab action.”
He added that the MoU is the product of both countries efforts to enhance health cooperation. “It covers expertise exchange and scientific research, aligning with the aspirations of our countries’ leadership,” Al-Jalajel said.
The Saudi delegation visited several governmental and private institutions in Morocco, including the National Institute of Health and a vaccine manufacturing plant. During these field visits, they discussed opportunities for cooperation and ways to harness the available technologies and solutions to develop the health sector in both countries.
