Saudi Venture Capital Company (SVC) has successfully concluded its executive program, “Governance for Venture Capital–Backed Companies,” delivered in collaboration with the Governance Center, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund. The program aims to elevate governance standards and enhance board effectiveness within fast-growing, venture capital–backed companies across the Kingdom.

Held over three days, the program brought together a selected group of CEOs, board members, founders, and senior executives from investment-backed startups representing multiple sectors. In a press statement, Dr. Nabeel Koshak, CEO and Board Member of SVC, said: “SVC is committed to building a sophisticated venture capital ecosystem that extends beyond funding to developing knowledge and capabilities that improve investment quality and support companies throughout their growth journey.”

He added: “Our collaboration with the Governance Center empowers startups to implement effective governance frameworks that foster long-term value and strengthen investor confidence in the Saudi market, both domestically and globally.”

The program addressed several critical topics, including governance frameworks for startups, indicators of early-stage company failure, the new Companies Law and the Simplified Joint Stock Company, investor expectations, and board roles during scaling phases. These were complemented by practical applications and case studies drawn from the local ecosystem.

Participants also benefited from an interactive environment that facilitated engagement with investors, subject-matter experts, and regulatory stakeholders. Discussions were described as highly valuable and closely aligned with the real-world challenges faced by startups at their current stages of growth.

Finally, this initiative reflects SVC’s continued commitment to advancing the venture capital ecosystem and enhancing the competitiveness of high-growth companies by promoting governance, transparency, and sustainability in line with international best practices.
