Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s Palace Engages with Qasab Salt Season 2″

The palace of Sheikh Abdullah Abdulwahab Al-Zahem, advisor to the founding king and judge in Riyadh and Medina, participated in the ” Qasab Salt Season 2″ festival. Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s Palace enriches festivalgoers with the state’s historical legacy and its unification by King Abdulaziz.

Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s Early Life & Academic Journey

Al-Zahem was born in 1300 AH in the village of Al-Qassim. He excelled in Quranic studies and memorized the Quran. Then, he travelled to Ushaiqer where he was taught by Ibrahim bin Saleh bin Issa. Later, he moved to Riyadh to learn from its scholars who included Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdul Latif, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Anqari in Al-Majma’ah.

Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s Judicial Career & Connection with the Founder

Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem served as a judge in several regions, appointed by King Abdulaziz in Ad Dahinah, . Later, he served as the chief judge in Riyadh from 1357 AH to 1363 AH. Then, he became the chief judge in Medina from 1364 AH until he died in 1374 AH.

Moreover, he was a trusted advisor to King Abdulaziz, frequently consulting with him on religious and worldly matters. This reflects his special status with the King.

Contributions to Unification of Kingdom

Sheikh Al-Zahem was not only a judge and teacher but also a brave warrior under King Abdulaziz’s banner. For example, he participated in many battles for unification, including Annexation of Hail in 1340 AH and entry into Hijaz in 1343 AH. He also took part in siege of Jeddah in 1344 AH.

Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s Palace: Construction & Contents

Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s Palace was constructed in 1322 A.H. The palace consists of a hospitality section and a family section, featuring rooms, pillars, and an open courtyard.

The palace was restored in 1436 AH, now housing historical documents, and photos related to the establishment of Saudi Arabia. Besides, it includes various cultural exhibits, documenting significant aspects of the Kingdom’s unification by King Abdulaziz.

 Palace’s Activities in Season 2

For ” Qasab Salt Season 2″ in 1445 AH – 2024 AD, Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s palace offers a range of programs and activities, including:

– A Model Library of Ancient Books: Displaying old books from Sheikh Al-Zahem’s collection dating back over 100 years.

– Manuscripts by Sheikh Al-Zahem: Showcasing original manuscripts written by the Sheikh, offering insights into his writing and creative abilities.

– Traditional Bedroom and Kitchen Models: Exhibiting models of ancient bedrooms and kitchens, providing a glimpse into past domestic life.

– Document Translation and Distribution: Translating historical documents into English for non-Arabic speakers and distributing them across different sections of the palace.

– Participation in National Events: Organizing cultural events aligned with national celebrations, such as a cultural talk titled “Security Before Establishment” in collaboration with Al-Qassim’s Community Development Association.

– Competitions and Founding Corner: Hosting competitions with daily cash prizes and an iPhone 15 as a season-ending prize and setting up a founding corner for photography enthusiasts.

– Hospitality and a Film About Al-Zahem’s Life: Offering hospitality to guests, along with souvenirs and a three-minute motion graphic film about Sheikh Al-Zahem’s life with King Abdulaziz.

Activities and exhibits at Sheikh Abdulwahab Al-Zahem’s palace during “Qasab Salt Season 2” showcase Saudi Arabia’s cultural history, connecting past and present.
