The Saudi Journalists Association confirmed, Sunday, that it has taken a number of measures aimed at controlling media practice and protecting the profession from “those impersonating a journalist.”
The commission clarified that it had addressed the competent authorities, and discussed mechanisms for holding accountable those who offend the media profession and violate the rules and regulations that regulate media practice.
It indicated that it took these measures after following “some wrong practices carried out by some of the famous social networking sites, and impersonating them as” media “as they resort to actions aimed at gaining the largest balance of simple followers to attract advertisers.
The Saudi Journalists Association expressed its confidence in the implementation of the regulations governing media activity.
