The Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Al-Khorayef, has begun on Thursday an official visit to the Kingdom of Spain, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The visit aims to strengthen industrial and mineral cooperation, and explore opportunities in advanced industrial sectors which the National Strategy for Industry focuses on, such as space and aviation.
Furthermore, the visit aims to explore opportunities for human capacities development in industry and mining, solutions for mining sustainability, and attracting Spanish mining companies to invest in the promising Saudi mining sector.
During the visit, Al-Khorayef will engage in important discussions with a number of Spanish ministers and leaders of the private sector. The CEO of the National Industrial Development Center, Engineer Saleh Al-Solami, accompanies the Saudi Industry Minister in this visit.
Saudi Arabia and Spain boast robust trade relations. In 2023, the total Saudi non-oil exports to Spain reached SAR 2.72bn. They included chemical industry products, plastics, and base metals.
Meanwhile, the total Saudi non-oil imports from Spain reached SAR 9.13bn in 2023. They included machinery, electrical equipment, pharmaceutical products, and essential oils.
Al-Khorayef has just concluded an official visit to Italy, during which he discussed enhancing economic relations and strengthening industrial and mining cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Italy.
The Saudi Industry Minister’s visits to Spain and Italy align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Kingdom into a global industrial powerhouse through the localization of strategic industries and forging partnerships that aim to transfer knowledge and innovative manufacturing solutions.
