Saudi Foreign Minister: We hope that there will be no escalation in the region
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, expressed on Monday that Saudi Arabia hopes that there will be no escalation of the situation in the region.
He also added in a press conference after the meeting of the countries bordering the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, “We must protect the security of the Gulf and the Red Sea,” stressing that we must be aware of the dangers in the region.
Meanwhile, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, had blessed the founding of the Council of Arab and African States bordering the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and the signing of the Council’s charter.
This came during his reception today, the foreign ministers of the Arab and African countries bordering the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and they are: Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Eritrean Foreign Minister Othman Saleh, Yemeni Foreign Minister Muhammad Al-Hadrami, Sudanese Foreign Minister Asmaa Muhammad Abdullah, Djibouti Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahmoud Youssef, and Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Issa Awad.
According the Saudi Press Agency ‘SPA’, during the reception, a number of issues were discussed regarding ways to develop joint cooperation between the countries bordering the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, in a manner that enhances security and stability in the region.
