Saudi Environment Minister inaugurates the International Exhibition and Forum on Afforestation Techniques

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, His Excellency Eng. Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli; the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification the International Exhibition and Forum on Afforestation Techniquesat started at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center in Riyadh.

The International Exhibition and Forum for Afforestation Techniques, is organized by the National Center for the Development of Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification in coordination with the Ministry of “Environment” and continues until May 31, 2022.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, His Excellency thanked His Highness, the Crown Prince, for his generous sponsorship of the International Fair and Forum on Afforestation Techniques, which reflects the interest of the wise leadership in preserving and developing the environment, especially the vegetation cover, which is a fundamental pillar of the environment and wildlife, and this interest was manifested His Highness launched the Green Saudi Initiative and the Green Middle East

He said, “The Kingdom is moving towards achieving a qualitative and unprecedented leap in the Middle East in the field of environmental protection and plant cover development, with such pioneering and ambitious initiatives locally and regionally, whose effects will be reflected globally in reducing desertification and enhancing biodiversity, which pushes towards a cleaner future. It is more sustainable, improves human quality of life, and enhances well-being.”

Engineer Nazmi Al-Nasr CEO of NEOM announced during the opening session an initiative launched by NEOM in cooperation with the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification by planting 100 million local trees as part of the ten billion trees that will be planted around the world, rehabilitating 1.5 million hectares of land and natural reserves and repairing wildlife habitats in Neom.

He said: “We are committed to the project and under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chairman of the Board of Directors, that 55% of the city will be a natural area, and we are working hard in this strategic direction in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and based on many studies and scientific research, We believe that the final results will improve our position.”
