The Saudi Ministry of Culture is delighted to host the Saudi Cultural Week in Doha, Qatar, from 18th to 21st February. This exciting event, held at Darb Al Saai in collaboration with Qatar’s Ministry of Culture, will spotlight the Kingdom’s Year of Handicrafts 2025. Furthermore, this unmissable event will offer a fascinating glimpse into Saudi Arabia’s diverse cultural heritage, emphasizing the deep-rooted shared values between the two nations. Various commissions under the Ministry of Culture and Saudi cultural institutions will showcase multiple facets of Saudi culture.
Artisans Showcase Traditional Craftsmanship
Ten talented Saudi artisans will proudly present traditional arts and handicrafts. Specifically, these include the intricate Al-Hasawi Bisht weaving and tailoring (a traditional men’s outer cloak), the vibrant Al Sadu weaving (a traditional textile), and the distinctive Iqal crafting (a traditional headband). Additionally, workshops will be organized to promote these unique local art forms, fostering collaborations between Qatari and Saudi artisans. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore traditional Saudi fashion, viewing exquisite designs by leading Saudi designers. These contemporary pieces, blending traditional attire with a modern perspective, will be available for purchase.
Cinematic and Artistic Delights
The Saudi Film Commission will further enrich the experience by screening a selection of captivating short films. Consequently, audiences will embark on a cinematic journey, experiencing stories that capture the essence of Saudi creativity and the country’s diverse cultural landscape. Moreover, guests can enjoy a variety of traditional performances, spanning music and theatre to poetry. Equally important, Arabic calligraphy and manuscript exhibitions will be on display, highlighting calligraphy pens and Muqahar paper (traditional polished paper). The thought-provoking Exhibition 13/16, featuring captivating photography and video documenting Saudi Arabia’s vibrant culture, will also be showcased.
Culinary and Cultural Immersion
Five prominent Saudi chefs will provide live culinary demonstrations, showcasing some of the most celebrated dishes from various regions. Therefore, visitors can sample and savor authentic Saudi flavors firsthand, gaining inspiration to recreate these delectable recipes at home. In addition, a dedicated beverage corner will serve traditional drinks, including Saudi coffee, a cultural symbol of the Kingdom’s generosity and hospitality.
