Saudi Crown Prince sends a cable of thanks to the Emir of Qatar, upon his departure from Doha

Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HRH Mohammed bin Salman sent a cable of thanks to the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad. This was after he left Doha and attended the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, on Sunday evening.

The Crown Prince said to Sheikh Tamim: “I am pleased, as I leave your brotherly country, to express to Your Highness my deep thanks and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality I received and the accompanying delegation”.

He congratulated the Emir of Qatar on the success of the opening of the FIFA World Cup. He wished everyone health and happiness, and the Qatari people further sophistication, progress, and prosperity.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs published the text of the message after the Saudi Crown Prince left the State of Qatar.

The Saudi Crown Prince appeared at the opening of the World Cup wearing a scarf in the colors of the Qatari flag. This scarf had the words Qatar World Cup 2022 written on it.

This sparked lively interaction on social media platforms, especially after years of a diplomatic boycott between the Kingdom and Qatar, which extended from mid-2017 until reconciliation in early 2021.

The Saudi Minister of Sports announced that the Crown Prince has directed all ministries, agencies, and government agencies in the Kingdom to provide any additional support or facilities that Qatar needs to support it in hosting the 2022 World Cup.
