Saudi Arabia’s G20: a continuous effort to achieve consensus and solve global problems

The Minister of State and G20 Sherpa of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Fahad bin Abdullah Almubarak emphasized the links that link the Kingdom’s presidency program for the group with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.
This came during his presentation of a summary of the United Nations General Assembly on the program of the presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the group.
G20 meetings
In an informal session of the United Nations General Assembly attended by representatives from member countries, the Saudi representative highlighted the general objective, main themes and the priorities for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s presidency of the G20 in 2020.
The session had started with a speech for the President of the United Nations General Assembly and another for the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, in which they welcomed the Saudi representative and expressed their aspiration for the success of the G20 summit in Riyadh.
Al-Mubarak indicated that, under the wise guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman, the program for the presidency of the Kingdom of G20, in 2020 was prepared in a comprehensive and integrated way to reflect the most important issues for the entire world.
Strengthening international cooperation
The Saudi representative drew attention to the integrated nature of G20 and the United Nations, as they play a fundamental role in enhancing international cooperation, noting that the G20 provides the necessary momentum and policy guidance whenever the need arises.
In his speech, Dr. Al-Mubarak also reviewed the main goals of the G20 in 2020, explaining that the Kingdom will focus during its presidency of the G20 on three pillars that fall under the overall goal of seizing the opportunities of the twenty-first century for all.

Human empowerment: By creating conditions that enable everyone, especially women and youth, to live decent, work and prosper.
Preserving the planet: by strengthening collective efforts to protect our planet, especially with regard to food and water security, climate, energy and the environment.
Shaping new horizons: by adopting bold and long-term strategies to share the benefits of innovation and technological progress.
The Minister of State and G20 Sherpa of Saudi Arabia is pursuing the global outreach activities to engage the international community in the efforts of G20 throughout the year
He will also attend a number of high-level meetings representing the presidency of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the G20.
