King Salman in Oman to offer condolences for the death of Sultan Qaboos
The King of Saudi Arabia, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, arrived on Monday to Oman to offer his condolences for the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed
Upon his arrival, the Saudi King was received by the new Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur in the Alamer Palace.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed his sincere condolences to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, and to the Omani people on the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed.
For his part, Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his sincere brotherly feelings, his condolences and sympathy.
After this, King Salman left the Qasr al-Alam in the capital, Muscat.
The Sultan of Oman, Qaboos bin Saeed, died last Friday evening, at the age of 79, according to what the official Oman News Agency quoted from the Royal Court.
Sultan Qaboos has ruled the Sultanate of Oman since he assumed power in 1970, when he had no children and did not announce the appointment of a successor.
On Saturday morning, the Omani state TV declared Haitham bin Tariq Al Said as the new Sultan of Oman, and the Omani Defense Council said that “a session was held to open the message of Sultan Qaboos regarding the choice of his successor,”
