Saudi Arabia: Travel suspension intended to guard against Corona
The Saudi Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that it had recorded 21 confirmed cases of Corona virus, which had been detected at border crossings. It added that all affected cases are subject to treatment, and that the process of investigating contacts is continuing on a daily basis.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Mohamed Al-Abd Al-Aali, indicated in a press conference that the travel suspension for citizens and residents is aimed at avoiding the spread of Corona.
In addition, he explained that 2,500 people had been subjected to house isolation measures in anticipation of a possible injury.
The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that it had registered a new case of the virus (Covid 19), for one of the passengers who crossed the Egyptian nationality, coming from New York heading to Cairo through King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah.
The passenger was in Egypt before flying to the United States of America during the 14 days prior to his arrival at Jeddah airport.
Saudi Arabia announced Sunday evening, suspending travel of citizens and residents temporarily to and from a number of countries to control and limit the spread of the Corona virus, in addition to the decision of the Kingdom’s government, to temporarily limit entry to its lands for people from the Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain to air ports only.
Later, the Ministry of Interior added 5 new countries to the list of countries that citizens and temporary residents are prohibited from traveling to and the entry of travelers from it.
