The Saudi Ministry of Defense and the General Authority for Military Industries announced the completion of a project to manufacture and localize fast interceptor boats of the type (HSI32).
The fast interceptor boats were manufactured and localized locally, according to the latest international specifications and standards, in cooperation between the “Zamil” company for marine services and the Advanced Electronics Company (one of The Saudi Military Industries Company (SAMI) and the French company CMN.
Localizing the military industries
The announcement of the receipt of the last batch of fast interceptor boats came in order to achieve the goals of localizing the military industries sector in the Kingdom. In an effort to complete this system, the launch of the project of manufacturing and localizing the fast interceptor boats locally started in October 2020.
The Commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces; Lieutenant General Fahd Al-Ghafili, confirmed that the system of fast interception boats (HSI32) will contribute to raising the level of readiness and combat readiness of the naval forces to enhance maritime security in the region.
Protecting strategic interests of the Kingdom.
The system will also participate with the various units of the Eastern Fleet and the Western Fleet in protecting the vital and strategic interests of the Kingdom.
He pointed out that the localization of the fast interceptor boat systems industry reflects the realistic embodiment of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
It comes in accordance with the directives of the Crown Prince; to achieve the strategic objectives of the Ministry of Defense represented in improving spending efficiency and supporting the localization of local manufacturing.
The Deputy Governor of the General Authority for Military Industries for the military procurement sector, Muhammad Al-Athel, praised the support and care that the military industries sector enjoys from the Saudi leadership, which has harnessed all capabilities and resources to support this promising sector.
Directing localization obligations
Pointing out that the manufacture of fast interceptor boats comes within the Authority’s strategic direction in terms of achieving national priorities and directing localization obligations to local companies.
The fast interceptor boats will also help support and empower local manufacturers, as well as develop promising local companies to become leading companies and support major national companies to enhance their position globally, which contributes to supporting the ambitious localization process.
He added, “This system will contribute to raising the level of military and security readiness of the Saudi naval forces, strengthening the maritime security force in the region, and protecting the vital and strategic interests of the Kingdom.”
