On World Radio Day, February 13, the Saudi Radio and Television Authority launches “Al-Ekhbariya” the Kingdom’s first radio station.
This is the final step on the authority’s route to specialization by focusing on local content.
“This action is part of the authority’s goal to distribute media discourse across all platforms and migrate to specialized media to satisfy the requirements of segments of society,” said Muhammad bin Fahd Al-Harthy, CEO of the Radio and Television Authority.
Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam will be the first three cities to receive “Al-Ekhbariya” radio broadcasts over the “FM” wave.
The “Al-Ekhbariya” channel announced the opening of “Al-Ekhbariya” radio at its inception for various periods, including current news bulletins, tales covering all societal issues, and the most notable urgent worldwide events.
