Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has introduced strict regulations for barbershops, set to begin in 180 days. The Ministry banned tanning beds and tattoo equipment, prioritizing public health within barbershops across the Kingdom.
Stricter Sanitation Measures for Barbershops
Under the new rules, barbershops must follow enhanced hygiene standards, aiming to safeguard customers from potential health risks. Barbers can no longer reuse razors, with all tools requiring sterilization after every use. Additionally, barbershops must supply sterilization devices to comply with these stricter sanitation requirements.
Only Saudi Food and Drug Authority-approved products and cosmetics will be allowed, ensuring safety and adherence to health regulations. These updates align with the Ministry’s broader effort to modernize men’s grooming services while encouraging a business-friendly environment.
Emphasis on Worker Conduct and Customer Safety
To further protect public health, the new guidelines regulate barbers’ behavior within salons, prohibiting actions like touching their face during services. Any barber showing signs of illness must refrain from working to prevent health risks for customers.
The regulations also prohibit eating or drinking inside salon areas to maintain hygiene. Women can only enter barbershops under specific conditions, enhancing the professional atmosphere in these establishments.
The Ministry stated these updates show Saudi Arabia’s dedication to quality services and growth within the grooming sector. The new regulations also aim to create a safer and more appealing environment for investors and clients alike.
