

Lotte Fine Chemical received, on Wednesday, the world’s first commercial shipment of clean (blue) ammonia, which obtained independent accreditation and was sent by SABIC Agro-Nutrients and Saudi Aramco, as the volume of the consignment amounted to 25,000 metric tons.
The ship loaded with cargo sailed from King Fahd Industrial Port in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, last November, and docked recently in the port of Ulsan, South Korea.
This shipment, the first of its kind, marks a historic milestone in the development of carbon-neutral solutions, as clean (blue) ammonia is a low-carbon alternative to traditional gray ammonia.
The Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, announced that the Kingdom aims, through cooperation between “SABIC” and “Saudi Aramco” in this field, to become the world’s largest exporter of clean hydrogen products by 2030, indicating that it has The Kingdom has vast reserves of natural gas and abundant renewable energy sources that enhance its ability to produce pure hydrogen at a competitive cost, facilitating its conversion into ammonia.
It is noteworthy that SABIC Agro-Nutrients is a company listed on Saudi Stock. SABIC owns 50.1 percent of its shares, while the private and public sectors own 49.9 percent of the remaining shares as traded on the market.
