A medical team consisting of psychiatrists and neurosurgeons was formed to discuss the case and approve a surgical intervention to relieve severe symptoms of depression and anxiety associated with it.

The team performed a “bilateral anterior gyrus resection” under complete anesthesia, which was successful without any complications.

The patient’s mood and psychological condition improved after the operation, sleep hours returned to their normal rate, and he moved away from permanent sadness and excessive thinking about death and worry about the future.

It is noteworthy that King Salman Medical City in Madinah provides a neurosurgery service for depression patients, through a medical team in neurosurgery.

The cases are treated through surgical intervention in the brain using advanced and precise surgical techniques to relieve symptoms of depression, and this service is the only one of its kind in the Middle East.
