
A delegation from Saudi Arabia is participating in the parliamentary meeting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in collaboration with the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan.
In her remarks, Milli Majlis Speaker Sahiba Gafarova expressed gratitude to the parliamentary leaders and official delegations present, emphasizing the critical role of parliaments in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
During the opening session, IPU President Duarte Pacheco highlighted the significance of parliamentary legislation in supporting global efforts to achieve climate goals. Parliamentary leaders engaged in discussions on key topics, including the role of parliaments in climate change mitigation, international cooperation to support developing countries in their climate efforts, and the use of technological innovations and AI to enhance climate action.
