Saudi Arabia launches program to support construction in Yemen
The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing signed a memorandum of cooperation, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, intending to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two sides.
The Ministry was represented in the signing by His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Undersecretary for Customer Experience and Customer Services and the General Supervisor of the General Department of Institutional Partnerships and International Cooperation, and on the part of the Program, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Yemen and General Supervisor of the SDRPY Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber.
The memorandum aims to activate the ministry’s participation in several areas related to promoting sustainable urban development, qualifying the program’s specialists and concerned parties in the field of construction.
It also aims at providing technical and advisory support to the program in the various competencies of the ministry, including urban development, engineering affairs, and building code, and preparing unified classification standards for engineering and consulting offices in Yemen.
His Highness the Undersecretary for customer experience and customer services indicated that the areas of cooperation include defining goals and coordinating between the two sides to develop action plans that will be implemented according to various agreed tracks, including preparing studies in the areas of rain drainage and preventing the dangers of floods, and holding joint workshops between the two parties to exchange experiences.
