Saudi Arabia Issues First License for Shark Diving Experience

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Wildlife (NCW), in partnership with the Saudi Water Sports and Diving Federation, has issued the Kingdom’s first-ever license, allowing regulated cage diving with sharks in the Ras Hatiba Reserve, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The license seeks to support the development of sustainable marine tourism within protected marine reserves, providing enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to observe sharks in their natural habitat while ensuring the protection of marine life and maintaining ecological balance.

This approach stands as a testament to the center’s efforts in boosting awareness of the significance of marine species and fostering the environmental role of sharks in balancing marine ecosystems.

To further ensure that ecotourism does not disrupt marine species or their natural habitats, the license aligns with national regulations governing marine activities.

Moreover, the NCW underscored that all activities under this initiative will be carried out under direct technical supervision and continuous monitoring.

Therefore, the center will ensure full compliance with best scientific standards and internationally recognized practices, ongoing environmental impact assessments, and the highest levels of safety.

By launching this initiative, Saudi Arabia significantly solidifies its presence in the field of marine life protection and the development of sustainable ecotourism in reserves and natural sites.
