Saudi Arabia, Iran agree to resume the activities of military attaches

Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Aziz Nasserzadeh met on Wednesday in Moscow with Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense Talal Abdullah Al-Otaibi, on the sidelines of the Moscow Military Exhibition for Defense Industries.


According to what was published by the Iranian news agency “IRNA”, during the meeting, the two sides agreed to resume activities of military attaches in the embassies of the two countries in Iran and Saudi Arabia.


The military attache at the Iranian embassy in Russia said that this meeting is the first official meeting between the military officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia, after the resumption of bilateral relations between the two countries.


During this meeting, the two sides stressed the will of the two countries to implement the recent agreement in the field of reviving and developing relations, in line with the interests of the two countries, the countries of the region, and the Islamic world.


In this meeting, the Iranian and Saudi military officials pointed out the importance of the role of the armed forces in this process, stressing the necessity of continuing the talks and reaching an appropriate plan and roadmap in this field.


At this meeting, it was decided to exchange the military attaches of the two countries and to start their activities in the embassies of the two countries, as soon as possible.
