During his official visit to the United States, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has successfully persuaded President Donald Trump of the significant need to help protect Sudan’s unity, safeguard its institutions, and put an end to the ongoing conflict.

Trump’s swift response stands as a testament to Washington’s recognition of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to contain the Sudanese crisis. The US President has also expressed a firm conviction of the urgent need to halt the war and achieve peace. This clear conviction marked a stance he had not initially prioritized before the Crown Prince’s state visit.

In a response, Sudanese Army Chief Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan has welcomed the Saudi initiative and affirmed Sudan’s readiness to collaborate with both Riyadh and Washington to end the war, stop foreign interference, and advance peace.

The Kingdom’s initiative featured significant symbolism, emphasizing Saudi Arabia’s adherence to its steadfast foreign-policy principles —supporting its Arab partners and championing the just causes of peoples across the region.

In addition to its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, Saudi Arabia also leveraged quiet diplomacy to hold a rare and highly sensitive direct meeting between the US president and Syria’s transitional authority leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in the presence of the Crown Prince. This breakthrough served as an attempt to dispel mistrust and narrow the gap between both sides. This step paved the way for Al-Sharaa’s subsequent visit to the United States with a landmark reception at the White House, signaling a new chapter of American-Syrian relations.

Amid its pride in the Crown Prince’s successful visit, which strengthened the foundations of a historic strategic partnership with Washington and charted the path for the Kingdom’s economic ascent and national defense, Saudi Arabia did not neglect the mounting concerns of its brothers in Sudan and Palestine.

The positive response of major world powers to Saudi initiatives reflects the Kingdom’s distinctive international status across the Arab, Islamic, regional, and global arenas. The Kingdom has secured this standing through its consistency, sincerity, and credibility. These qualities are deeply rooted in its internal strength and in a national spirit that renews hope, especially through its investment in youth and its steadfast dedication to justice.

What further increases the significance of Saudi Arabia’s approach to contain the Sudanese crisis and lay the foundations for peace is the shared geography of the two brotherly nations along the Red Sea. This strategic geopolitical location requires close consultation and coordination in maritime navigation, commercial activity, and the movement of people to achieve mutual development interests, enhance the well-being of both populations and foster security cooperation to protect their naval bases and facilities.
