

Saudi Arabia confirmed its initiative to resolve the conflict in Yemen and called on the international community and the Security Council to take firm measures against the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia, which obstructs all peace efforts seeking to reach a comprehensive political solution under the auspices of the United Nations (UN).
She stressed that the absence of firm measures against this militia is what gave it more space to harm the Yemeni people, destabilize the security and stability of the region, and significantly affect international peace and security.
This came in the Kingdom’s speech before the UN Security Council on the discussion under the item “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue”, delivered by the Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Counselor Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Ateeq.
Al-Ateeq reiterated the Kingdom’s adherence to the constants of the Palestinian cause represented in ending the occupation establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and guaranteeing the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
Al-Ateeq stressed the importance of comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East, and that it is a strategic choice to end one of the longest and most complex historical conflicts in the contemporary world, based on the two-state solution, following international references, and the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative.
He said: “The occupation authorities, which take fraud and desecration as a method, continue to violate international decisions and norms in occupied Palestine and practice the most heinous forms of injustice and aggression against the Palestinian people. for these violations.”
He pointed out that the time has come for the international community and the Security Council to carry out their responsibilities towards supporting the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause, by realizing the right and realizing the aspirations of the Palestinian people to build their independent state guaranteed by international resolutions.
Al-Ateeq added, “The Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militia confirms day after day its indifference to the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people and the stability of Yemen and its subversive role in threatening the stability of the region and international peace and security.
He also reiterated the Kingdom’s full support for the UAE in the face of all that threatens its security and stability, and the importance of confronting the danger of this terrorist group and its constant threat to stability in the region and the world.
Al-Ateeq drew attention to the Kingdom’s right to take all necessary measures, in line with its obligations following international law, to respond to all terrorist practices and acts to which it is exposed.
After the speech, the advisor expressed the Kingdom’s support for the brotherly Lebanese people, urging, in the name of the Kingdom, all Lebanese leaders to give priority to the interests of its people, and to work to achieve what the brotherly Lebanese people aspire to in terms of security, stability, and prosperity.
