The leaders of Arab nations convened in Cairo on Tuesday for an emergency summit to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and to propose a counterproposal for the US President Donald Trump’s plan for Gaza.
Trump has repeatedly called for resettling Palestinians in other countries, including Egypt and Jordan, suggesting that the US will take over the Gaza Strip and transform it into a “Riviera of the Middle East.”
At the Cairo Summit, Arab leaders endorsed Egypt’s plan for Gaza reconstruction which ensures that Palestinians will stay in their lands. They also stressed the urgent need to fully implement the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
Moreover, the Arab leaders reiterated the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the two-state solution.
